Mischief, Tom Foolery, and Shenanigans

The big news in Ark City, USA today is the streaker who ran across the field at last night's football game against Winfield. For the most part, people (myself included) just think that it's funny. A few are completely indifferent. But, as to be expected, there are some who are absolutely outraged. It happened during Senior night, while this year's class was being honored. Apparently, one the girls being recognized was actually in tears. I have to admit, that just makes it more amusing to me. Sorry your special moment got ruined, sweetie, but get over yourself.

Early word is that the kid is just going to be charged with disorderly conduct. I'm sure mom and dad will have some additional sentencing. Frankly, that's all the kid should get. I know that there are some overly conservative and uptight bible beaters, soccer moms, and such who will want to see the kid get the book thrown at him. There might even be some "justice" seekers who want the kid to be charged as a sex offender. Again, get over yourself. If the worse that happens to you in a day is that you saw some teenage kid's junk, was it that bad of a day?

To tell the truth, I'm relieved to that reckless behavior still has a home here in Ark City. This week is Halloween, but you would hardly know it. This city has sucked the spirit right out of what should be one of the best times of the year. I have had several conversations this week with people who agree that our kids today are really missing out. We moved trick or treat night to the 26th this year. I barely saw any kids out after dark. It seems like people just go to the controlled environment that the city puts on at the recreation center and then it's home in time for dinner. Furthermore, I didn't see one house decorated with eggs and toilet paper.

I'm not trying to encourage any criminal behavior. I just want to see more "kids being kids." They can be safe and responsible when they are adults. So the streaker, I say thank you, young man. You have injected a little chaos into a town that was very much in need of it.

  3. I'm pretty sure that enjoying seeing another dude's junk is the definition of being gay. Congratulations on finally coming out Chris.

  4. Well said Andy!!! Too funny! He also has a strange Patrick Swayze thing going on too. Do we see moving to Iowa as a logical next step for Chris? You see, Iowa passed same sex marriage rights recently....

I miseed the event cause frankly the way A.C. plays footbeall really isn't that exciting to me but had I known there would be a jovially student running about the field in his birthday suit, Well now that might have been worth seeing. Good blog dude! I have to agree, This city and its uppity tight ars people have sucked the life out of young kids and just plain good ol fashioned fun..

  6. Dewey had an awesome Halloween! The girls got tons of candy, and the community was out like you would not believe. They had a down town trunk or treat, and it was WALL to WALL kids!!! It was amazing!
As for the streaker.... that is funny! I had a chuckle, as did Mitchell. However, if the girls would have been at the game, I might have been a tad more upset. I would have had to cover eyes up for sure on that one. Throwing the book at him, or calling him a sex offender I think would be a little too much though. Would we really want to ruin the kids future just because he decided to have a little fun in high school. That would be ridiculous.

  7. Hey MMM. What the hell is Dewey and why does anyone care?

  8. Chris cares, or at least he pretends to care (Jeremy or Arty... it has to be one of you calling me out) Dewey is where I moved to when I left the Newkirk/Ark City area. I thought that it was relevant because Ark City seems to have missed the point on what Halloween is... and well I just wanted to let you all know that not everyone has done that. Plus I like to rub it in to Chris on any point that I am better than him... LOL!!!! (Just kidding CJ!)

I have to say, that we really did miss Ark City, and Newkirk for Halloween and Arkalalah. It was fun here in good ole Dewey America, but we all got a little home sick!
Thanks Mr. Mountain Dewey... and now I know who you are :)

  13. yes, I miss the days of a burning sack of dog crap left on a porch step, the beautiful yellow and white adornments of egg yolk and shaving cream covering vehicles and houses, with a fresh tapestry of toilet paper gently swaying in the morning breeze, the rearrangment of yard decorations in a chaotic theme. Whatever happened to all those 'fun loving' younguns?

  14. Pfft... Speak for yourself, people. I say that these cockeyed shananigans are troublesome - especially if that streaking, little delinquent has a younger sibling!!!

As CJ's MUCH younger sister, I know what it is like to follow in the footsteps of a Jr. High criminal. All of the teachers automatically hate you for being of *that* descent. The prinicipal recommends that you have an "escort" to the bathroom, in the chance that you decide to flush some Class B explosives down one of the toilets. Every glance or word towards a superior was robotically labeled as an attempt to disrespect in one form or another... Your dad sets your cufew at 5:30 p.m. You are not allowed near a carton of eggs or a lawnjokey and your toilet paper useage is monitored. Every conversation you have with your older brother ends in "Don't tell Dad!" Meanwhile, every conversation you have with your dad is laced with frustration and begins with, "Your brother...!" Etc...

So, when you support a little hoodrat like the streaker, you are actually just supporting another CJ-in-the-making. I beg you, think of the little sisters!

PS - CJ, your little "K-Mac" put Pop Rocks on Ozzy's food..............again. This would be before she asked her school friend's dad if he was a bank robber, because, and I quote, "well, he looks like one...". I'm thinking that you may change your mind about 'tom foolery' before this kid graduates high school!
